+He was at school in West Hartford when news arrived of the battle of Lexington,
+and was one of the scholars who armed themselves and, led by Moses Goodman,
+served at Bunker Hill, where he was wounded in the knee. He was in several
+subsequent engagements, was present at Burgoyne's surrender, and at the close of
+the war was a Lieutenant. He was a man of great energy of character and physical
+strength. He settled in Albany, N.Y., in 1785, as a brick-maker.
