265. JOHN DEMING7 SEYMOUR (Jeremiah6, Elias5, Bevil4, Thomas3, John2, Richard1), born at Newington, Conn., 2 Dec. 1821, died there 25 Dec. 1903; married at Newington, 25 Nov. 1852, ABIGAIL8 WELLES, born 30 Oct. 1825, died at Newington, 3 Aug. 1901, daughter of Roger7 (Roger6, Solomon5, Gideon4, Robert3, John2, Thomas1) and Electa (Stanley).

He was a farmer; a Whig and Republican. He joined the Congregational Church in 1857, and had a Sunday School class; in 1873 he was chairman of the building committee, and gave liberally towards the cost of modernizing the old church. He served as Representative for Newington, in the Conn. Legislature, 1869 and 1871.

i. MARY8, b. 16 Nov. 1853; res. (1919) Chattanooga, Tenn.; m. at Newington, Conn., 29 Apr. 1875, HENRY TREAT OLMSTEAD of Dunlap, Iowa, b. 3 Oct. 1847, d. 11 July 1917. He was a banker; Presbyterian; Republican.
ii. ROGER WELLES, b. 1 May 1856 ; d. 29 Apr. 1858.
iii. WALTER BALDWIN, b. 3 Nov. 1857; m. (1) SMITH, who d. 1896; m. (2) 22 Feb. 1898, LILLIAN HAMILTON SMITH, b. 13 Sept. 1870, sister of his first wife, dau. of Redden Smith. He was in the lumber business; Episcopalian; Republican; res. Thomasville, Ga. Children by second wife:
