310. Sidney Leslie8 Seymour (Allen7, Allen6, Stephen5, Joseph4, Zachariah3, John2, Richard1), born at Sandisfield, Mass., 28 Oct. 1845, died at Winsted, Conn., 24 Apr. 1916; married at Montville, Mass., 17 Jan. 1866, Adelaide L. Royce, born at Montville, 5 Aug. 1848.

He was a carpenter. He enlisted at the age of eighteen, 1 Sept. 1862 at Pittsfield, Mass., as Private in Co. H, 49th Regiment, Mass. Vol. Infantry. He served in the Dept. of the East, 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 19th Corps, Department of the Gulf, Major-General Banks commanding: also the 1st Maine, 116th N.Y., 48th Mass. Regiment. On duty in New York three months, he sailed from there 24 Feb. on the steamer Illinois; served in the Defences of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, General Sherman commanding. He was in the attack on Port Hudson, lasting twenty-one days and nights. He remained on duty until 8 Aug., was then ordered home and mustered out 21 Sept. 1863.
